Emergency Stop

On your test you will be asked to carryout an emergency stop.

The examiner will look round and out of the rear window and will then raise his right hand and say STOP. On hearing this instruction keep both hands on the steering wheel and press the brake firmly followed by the clutch pedal. As soon as you stop apply the handbrake and select neutral.

You will then be told that you won’t be asked to do the exercise again and to drive on when you are ready. Prepare to move away as normal, but on this occasion look over both left and right shoulders to check for danger. Assuming that it is safe, move off and continue along the road.
